"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little." - Edmund Burke
At Big and Small Rescue, we are a small group of caring Volunteers that reach out to areas deeply affected by poverty, recession and overpopulation in Canada and the US to save dying dogs.
Many of the dogs we save are scheduled to be euthanized at high kill shelters. These shelters destroy 87% of their intake or nearly 1000 loving dogs a month.
We are not changing the world with our small rescue efforts, but to quote a popular saying in rescue, 'we are surely changing the world for that one dog'. These dogs are sad, sick, often starving, and many are badly abused. We take these dogs in to foster homes where they are lovingly restored to health.
We find them kind and caring homes and make them the promise to love them forever. At this rescue, we underwrite this journey to canine happiness. It's a labour of love. It's our small effort to live up to their incredible friendship.
