Did you know there is no official body that governs pet rescues in Canada?

 Big and Small Rescue is the ONLY dog rescue in British Columbia, and possibly in all of Canada, to have been fully audited by a independent and reputable third party.

We passed with flying colors!

Canada could do more

Sadly, Canada has no established standards for the operation of pet rescues. Rescues may register as a non-profit society or as a charity, but much beyond that there is no oversight of a rescue's operation. As such, rescues tend to establish their own internal standards of care.

Big and Small Rescue has been audited

We are delighted to announce that Big and Small Rescue Society has successfully completed a full and thorough audit of its operations by the Riverside County Department of Animal Services, Riverside, California.

This audit  included a review of a random selection of 100 dogs taken in by Big and Small Rescue Society from the shelters of the county of Riverside, CA. The review, conducted by the veterinarian staff and the rescue co-ordination team of the Riverside Animal Shelter, included a thorough audit for ALL 100 dogs, of the following:

1. all veterinarian records;
2. all spay and neuter certificates; and,
3. all adoption details confirming the whereabouts of each and every dog.

What does this mean for Big and Small Rescue?

Our dogs are treated well! 
 With the support of our veterinarians and rescue co-ordinators,

1.We vet and care for the ALL of the dogs in our rescue

2. We run a 100% successful spay and neuter programme.

3. All of our dogs are accounted for.

The shelter believes:
we are a responsible rescue that meets the highest standards of animal care.
